Winston Training For Army All American Bowl

As the Arkansas High School football season has come to a close, there is still one senior player in the State who has a game left to play in his high school career. That is Helena West Helena standout corner back Darius Winston, who will be playing in the Army All American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas on January 3, 2009.
Winston is a 5 star prospect who is 6-foot-0, 180 pounds and runs a 4.4 forty. He is committed to play collegiate football for the University of Arkansas.

Winston recently sat down with ArkansasVarsity.com and discussed how things have been going with him since his season ended a few weeks ago.
"I have mainly been training and preparing myself for the Army All American game." said Winston "I'm looking forward to going down there and displaying my skills and hope to have a good showing. After that, I will come back home and begin focusing on getting ready to play college ball."
Winston also spoke a bit about his senior season, and how even though his team lost by three points to the Pulaski Academy Bruins in the Class 5A State Championship game, he was still proud of how the season turned out.
"Well, the season didn't turn out how we wanted it to, but I'm still proud of everything we accomplished." said Winston "We had a lot of people who didn't give us much of a chance going into the season, but we had the best record of any team in the history of our school, and all in all it was a great season. We can hang our heads high knowing we gave our best."
When asked who the toughest team the Cougars played against, and the toughest receiver he defended, Winston was quick to respond.
"Without a doubt the toughest team we played was Pulaski Academy." said Winston "I would have to say their wide receiver Neal Barlow was the toughest I defended against all year as well. He has great size, speed, and a lot of skills, and is a all around good ball player."
Winston also spoke a bit about his future as a Arkansas Razorback.
"I'm very excited about going to Arkansas." said Winston "Coach Petrino is a great coach, and the team has some great players on campus, and some more coming in. The team played hard this past season, and it is only a matter of time before they put everything together. I'm going to love being a part of that, because it is not going to be but just a couple of years before we contend for the SEC and possibly a National Championship."
Winston had a stellar senior season for the Helena West Helena Cougars by chalking up 46 tackles, 8 interceptions, and 9 knockdowns. He was also named the ArkansasVarsity.com Player of the Year for his performance on the field in his senior season.
