Because of winter weather which has left the state covered with either snow or ice, the Arkansas Activities Association has postponed Tuesday's scheduled opening round of state tournament play in Classes 6A, 5A, 3A, 2A and 1A. Classes 7A and 4A were not scheduled to start until Wednesday.
The postponement will which push the semifinal round in Classes 6A, 5A, 3A, 2A and 1A to Sunday, and will keep the State Finals which are scheduled for March 13-15 at Hot Springs' Summit Arena on schedule.
"The decision was based on a safety issue," said AAA executive director Lance Taylor. "We wanted to make sure that everyone could travel to our state locations without hazardous driving conditions. The weather conditions are not favorable to travel on Tuesday, and warmer temperatures are expected for the rest of the week."
The starting times will remain the same for all state tournament games. The semifinal rounds will be play on Sunday starting at 12:30 p.m.
The press conference for the State Finals will be held at the AAA office on Monday, March 10th, at 11:00 a.m.
