Following the departure of Kevin Kelley as head football coach and athletic director on May 6, Pulaski Academy has announced that Anthony Lucas has been named Head Coach, while Jason Wyatt has been named Director of Athletics for the Bruins.

Kelley resigned as head coach after being named head football coach at Presbyterian College in South Carolina.

A letter sent to school parents from Pulaski Academy said:

Dear PA Community,

We are very excited to share with you that Anthony Lucas will become our next Head Football Coach and that Jason Wyatt will serve as our new Athletic Director.

As everyone knows, Anthony is a former Razorback star wide receiver, former Dallas Cowboy, and member of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame who has been coaching our wide receivers and teaching physical education classes here at PA since 2012. Anthony’s love for the game and deep football expertise, combined with his optimistic, upbeat, and genuinely caring approach make him one of the most trusted, beloved, and respected people in the State of Arkansas. Anthony is well-connected in the football world and enjoys an extensive network of friendships and contacts both within and outside of our State. He and our coaches have become experts in PA’s unique approach to the game, and we will continue to play the special brand of football that has been a hallmark of our success.

Jason Wyatt has been coaching and teaching at PA for 21 years. Most recently, he has served as our team’s Co-Defensive Coordinator and as Dean of Students in the Upper School. Jason is a great listener and communicator who cares deeply about our students and enjoys strong working relationships with our coaches and families. He has always brought a high level of dedication and professionalism to everything that he does, and his varied and balanced experience as a teacher, coach, and administrator make him an ideal fit for the Athletic Director role. In the past, the Head Football Coach position was combined with that of Athletic Director, but this transition enabled us to separate those roles. Given his extensive knowledge and experience, Jason will remain actively involved with the football program as well.

Madison Taylor will continue his fine work as Assistant Athletic Director and will become Assistant Head Coach, also moving from Co-Defensive Coordinator to Defensive Coordinator. Adam Thrash will move up as well as he transitions from Offensive Line Coach to Offensive Coordinator. We are most grateful for Madison’s and Adam’s dedication to PA and to the football program and for the key role that they have played in our success.
