In Class 7A, No. 1 Bentonville will battle No. 2 Springdale Har-Ber and No. 3 Fort Smith Southside will battle No. 4 Fayetteville for a chance at playing for the 2010 Class 7A State Championship.
Har-Ber and Southside played in last year's Class 7A State Championship with the Wildcats defating the Rebels 27-6.
In Class 6A, No. 1 El Dorado will take on No. 3 Lake Hamilton while No. 2 Pine Bluff will take on No. 4 Texarkana.
The Wildcats and the Zebras faced each other in last year's Class 6A state championship with the Wildcats taking home a 27-20 victory.
Needless to say, it looks like the 7A West owns Class 7A while the 6A South owns Class 6A.
Records falling in Rison
There have been a couple of records broken in the small southeast Arkansas town of Rison this year.
First, star running back Raphael Caldwell broke both the all-time career rushing record, and the all-time career touchdown record with more than 5,100 yards and 84 career touchdowns.
Caldwell has also run into the Top 10 overall in the state of Arkansas. He has ran for more than 1,600 yards and 25 touchdowns this year.
Now defensive back Marquis Walker has broken the single-season interception record previously held by current Minnesota Vikings safety Tyrell Johnson. Walker has intercepted 10 passes thus far this season.
Rison also has the most playoff appearances of any school in the entire state of Arkansas. The Wildcats have also posted 61 playoff victories in the history of the school. Only Barton and Nashville have more playoff victories than Rison.
The No. 3 ranked Wildcats travel to take on the No. 4 ranked Harding Academy Wildcats this Friday night.
