Two parents who have student-athletes in the North Little Rock school district have filed an appeal with the Arkansas Activities Association over the forfeiture of games in both football and basketball, and the forfeiture of a state championship in basketball by the North Little Rock administration after they self-reported alleged recruiting violations concerning K.J. Hill.
The parents, Brian Prince and Ashley Nelson, have already filed one letter of appeal with the AAA, but was notified that the AAA "reviewed the information presented" and that it "appears recruiting violations occurred."

Additionally, the letter from AAA executive director Lance Taylor state that "no appeal lies from the self-report."
In the letter to the Arkansas Activities Association from Mr. Prince and Mrs. Nelson dated February 26, 2015 and mailed to the AAA on March 3, 2015, the parents ask the AAA to rescind the self-report from the NLRSD due to the "failure of the Arkansas Activities Association to follow their own constitution and bylaws".
The letter then lists six articles in which they say shows the AAA violated their constitution and bylaws. Additionally, the letter asks the Arkansas Activities Association give a declaration that "no decision", "no ineligible player participated", and/or "no violation occurred" to be provided in writing by the Arkansas Activities Association.
Additionally, the letter states that Lance Taylor has been quoted in the media and is on an audio recording saying that the Arkansas Activities Association conducted no investigation into the matter.
Among reason's Mr. Prince and Mrs. Nelson cite in the appeal are allegations that:
  • The self-report letter was submitted by an unauthorized representative of the NLRSD.
  • The NLR violated AAA rules by waiting eight days to self-report what they believed was a violation.
  • No investigation by the AAA into the self-report is a violation of AAA rules.
  • If the AAA did investigate, no notification has been provided to the NLRSD, also a violation of AAA rules.
  • There is no mention in the AAA rulebook regarding the term "self-report" and that the executive director does not have the authority to "change, omit, or nullify by manner of administration any rules or policies" of the Arkansas Activities Association.
  • The letter sent to the NLRSD on February 10, 2015 stated "The North Little Rock senior boys football and basketball programs are hereby placed on warning for a period of 365 days as of the above date.", and stated that AAA rules say that penalties are to extend from the date of the violation, which was three days before February 10th.
  • The letter provides exhibits of Arkansas Activities Association rules and bylaws with each allegation against the organization.
ArkansasVarsity.com will continue to report on this situation a new information becomes available.
