Lackey Steps Up For Arkansas High

Texarkana (Arkansas High) fans have spent the off-season wondering who would replace star running back and Arkansas Razorback Dennis Johnson in the 2008 football season, and they have now found their answer in a young man named Tim Lackey.
Lackey is a 5-foot-10, 195 pound running back with a 4.5 forty yard dash, who has been turning heads at camps and combines over the off-season.

Lackey recently attended the Arkansas Senior Camp in Fayetteville, and set down with ArkansasVarsity.com to discuss how the camp went.
"It was fun." said Lackey. "I was a bit disappointed that there were no testing events because I wanted to see what my forty time was, but the coaches wanted to see us play football, which was fine by me as well."
Lackey, who has attended three combines and four camps during the off-season, also said that the Arkansas Camps were his favorite that he attended.
"I really enjoyed the Arkansas Camps. I spent a lot of time with Coach Tim Horton. I really enjoyed that as well, because he is a very smart man who knows his job, and I learn something new every time I am around him." said Lackey
Lackey also spoke about the upcoming season, now that he has attended his final camp.
"I've been hitting the weights and eating good. My dad stays on me about that pretty good, and it is paying off for me." said Lackey. "I've just got to stay healthy, and prepare myself for two-a-days which are coming up. I don't want to mess up and go into practice or even the season with some kind of injury, so I'm going to take it easy for a bit."
Lackey also spoke of a game he is really looking forward to playing this year.
"I'm ready for Texas High. They are our big rival, and it would be great to be able to beat them in my senior season." said Lackey
When asked about recruiting, Lackey made it clear where he hopes to go to school.
"I really hope Arkansas offers me. I want to be a Razorback. The coaches up there are great, I learn something every time I get around the staff, and I enjoy being around them. I would also like to be able to play with my old teammate Dennis Johnson in college as well." said Lackey
