There are times when a high school athlete knows exactly what college they want to play for, and will accept a scholarship offer on the spot. Such was the case with Pulaski Academy (Little Rock, Ark.) wide receiver L.J. Wallace.
Wallace, (6-1, 170, 4.6) had a scholarship offer extended by the University of Central Arkansas Monday afternoon, and committed right on the spot. His brother, Aum'Arie Wallace signed with the Bears in February.
"This was something I have been thinking about for a while," said Wallace. "I've been talking with my coach and family about it, and my coach told me today that UCA offered, and I accepted on the spot."
"I got to see their facilities a lot last year when my brother was being recruited," said Wallace. "My family really likes UCA, and I have always gotten a warm feeling when I was there. I met Coach Conque when my brother was on his official visit last year, and he told me he was going to come after me this year. It made me feel really good that he really did it."
With his recruiting out of the way, Wallace said he can now work on his goals for his senior season.
"I'm just going to work hard this summer," said Wallace. "We are working on a new offense and breaking in a new quarterback. I'm just going to work hard and try my best to get better."
Wallace also spoke about his team moving up from Class 4A to Class 5A.
"We are just working hard," said Wallace. "We're not really thinking about moving up, we're just thinking about winning. That is the main thing, we have to work hard to win."
