ASUs Boone Receives Sixth Year Of Eligibility From NCAA

JONESBORO, Ark. (8/3/10) - Arkansas State senior guard Donald Boone has been cleared to receive a sixth-year of eligibility from the NCAA, head coach John Brady announced Tuesday.

"The NCAA rewarded Donald Boone with another year of eligibility to play on our basketball team next season. We are extremely excited about what he will bring to our team in terms of experience and leadership. It has been a long road for D-Ray, but we are happy for him and proud of the way he has handled this whole process. In addition, he will graduate Friday from Arkansas State University and again, we are proud of him for what he has accomplished. I would like to thank our Associate Athletic Director for Student Services Julie Lessiter and our Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance Daniel Feig for all their diligent work on Donald's behalf," said Brady.

Boone went down with a knee injury just four minutes into the 2009-10 season. Boone was the Red Wolves top scorer in 2008-09, averaging 13.6 points per game which ranked 11th in the Sun Belt Conference. He led the team with 54 steals, which was second in the league. For his stellar debut season at ASU, Boone was named Preseason All-Sun Belt prior to the 2009-10 season. Boone started 24 of 30 games his first season at A-State, averaging 30.4 minutes per game.

"I am looking forward to the coming season and I appreciate Coach Brady and the coaches for sticking with me," said Boone. "It's great to be back."
