ArkansasVarsity.com Game of the Week

The weather is starting to turn as we get into mid September, and high school football is just getting good and started. While we are still in Non-Conference play, there are some rivalry games taking place. One rivalry that has started growing over the past couple of years, will be the ArkansasVarsity.com Game of the Week for Week 3. That game features the Sheridan Yellowjackets hosting the White Hall Bulldogs at Yellowjacket Stadium in Sheridan at 7:00 pm.
These two teams played to a 14-14 tie last season at Bulldog Stadium in White Hall, a game the Bulldogs later forfeited, but both will be looking for more than a tie in tonight's game.

Both teams also feature athletes who are getting recruiting attention as well. ArkansasVarsity.com will be on hand for the nights action and will have a full rundown following the game.
Here is how both teams stack up.
Sheridan Yellowjackets
Coach Benji White led the Yellowjackets to the playoffs, where they loss in the first round to West Memphis, leaving the Jackets with a 6-5 record on the season.
Leading the way on offense for the Yellowjackets will be senior Nick Mote at QB. Mote will have help in the backfield from Brady Bone, Austin Wyles, and Vince Aguilar who transfered in from Cabot over the summer.
Senior Landon McFarland will lead the way at receiver, with Blake Gingerich, Landon Moore, Zach Escamilla and Colt Easly seeing time as well.
Glen Jackson, Spencer Charrier, Preston Caple, Corey Wilfong, Zach Payner, and Jesse Wittemore should all see time in the trenches for the Yellowjackets.
On Defense, Rickey Pickett, Donnie Alexander, Chad Winborne, and Shane Harrington should see time at the LB position, while Wyles, Will Schwin, Martez Litzsey, Chase Clark, and Hunter Mills should see time in the secondary for the Jackets.
White Hall Bulldogs
Coach Mike Vaughan watched his team struggle last season as they posted a record of 2-8, but ended the season on a good note, winning 2 of their last 3 games.
The Bulldogs will be lead by Senior QB Caleb Akers. Akers will have help in the backfield from athlete JJ Martin who can line up at QB, RB, and WR, where his 4.4 speed can prove to hurt an opposing defense. Larry Walls, who also posts a 4.4 forty gives the Bulldogs some much needed speed in the backfield.
Desmond Washington, Jarvis Price, Kevin Rauls, Wesley Clark, Paul Boykin, Jesse Cox, and Deonta Howard should all see time at the receiver position. Michael Smith is good across the middle from the slot receiver position for the Dogs, and is used in man on man isolation plays.
Up front on the line, White Hall has two young men being eyed by Division 1 schools. Brett Craine, and Nick Partridge give the Bulldogs a solid foundation on the line. Aaron Sprinkle, Craig Handy, Joseph Gorman, and Tyler Richmond also play important roles on the line as well. Richmond may also see time at fullback as well.
On defense, the Bulldogs are led up front by Jerry Davis, Thomas Strahan, Zach McKnight, and Chris Miller, while Dion Young and Dylan Glover could see time at defensive end.
Cage Griswold, Spencer Lybrand, Tyler Robinson, Cody Moss, Josh Leonard, and Scotty Paulett should all rotate at linebacker, while Micah Boykin, Raphael Williams, Ryan Burdick, Chad Dooley, Smith, Martin, Walls, and Tatum could see time in the secondary.
Both teams are going to come out of the locker room with something to prove in tonight's game, which should add to the fire and determination of the players and staff on both sidelines.
ArkansasVarsity.com will have staff members on hand for this game, and will have a full rundown after the game! Be sure to check back to see how this one turns out!
