Arkansas High School Football Kickoff 2008

We are hours from the Official KICKOFF of the 2008 Arkansas High School Football season! The annual Simmons First Hootens Kickoff Classic is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 pm at Golden Lion Stadium on the campus of UAPB.
There will be two games played, with the first set of games being between the Lonoke Jackrabbits and the Dumas Bobcats, while the second game will be between the Vilonia Eagles and the Monticello Billies. ArkansasVarsity.com will be on hand for both games tonight!

In game one, Coach Jeff Jones will lead his Lonoke Jackrabbits into Pine Bluff to take on Coach Mark Courtney and the Dumas Bobcats.
The Jackrabbits will be led by senior QB Rollins Elam who completed 94 of 156 passes last season for 1,941 yards and 24 touchdowns. Sophomore Brandon Smith will get touches at tailback, while Clarence Harris, Michael Howard, and Terrell Washington will lead the receiving corps, and Joel Harris will see playing time at tight end.
On Defense, Nick Head and Ross Shelton will lead the way up front, while Kyle Hensley will lead the way at linebacker, followed by Cory Miller, Smith, and Harris. Michael Nelson and Harris will lead the way for the secondary.
Leading the way on offense for the Dumas Bobcats will be Sophomore QB Darion Griswold. Matthew Moreland will see time at running back, while Aaron Dennis, Pierce Lacy, Wade Williams, and Ja'Vondrick Cobbs look to see playing time at receiver positions.
On defense, the Bobcats will be led by linebacker Theodore Mitchell who recorded more than 75 tackles on his way to All Conference honors last fall. Darrius Foster, and Daveon Horn will also see time at linebacker. Upfront, the Bobcats will be led by Dennis Richardson, Jonathan Hilson, Garret Sykes, and Mantrell Ward. The secondary will be led by senior cornerback Louis Jackson. Alex Higgins, Rashad Hampton, and Kendall Hayes should see playing time as well.
Once the Jackrabbits and Bobcats have competed thier game, we will then move to the second game of the evening, between the Vilonia Eagles led by Coach Jim Stanley and the Monticello Billies led by Coach Van Paschal.
The Eagles will be led by Tyler Head, and Marcus Brewer who could both see time at the QB position. Aaron Oade will lead the Eagles at runningback, while Kory Howard should also see plenty of playing time. Senior Mason Kindsfater will lead the way at receiver, while Josh McCann, and Dustin Hawkins will also get passes thrown their way. Heath Riggins will be the go to guy at tight end.
The Eagles are loaded with talent on the offensive and defensive lines as well. Tyler Stauch will lead the way, followed by Zac Ellis, Caleb Credit, Josh Wright, Jim Tow, and Clay Patterson.
The Eagles defense will be led up front by Wright, Alex Crawford, Kyle Robbins, and Vincent Tamasso.
Ross Estes will lead the way at linebacker, while Taylor Sweetin,and Brent Hughes should also see action. Josh Wilkerson, David McCoid, Cole Acklin, and Kyle Tabor will round out the secondary for the Eagles.
The Monticello Billies will be led by QB Ty Ferrell. Andy Ashcraft will see time at fullback, while Sentario Davis, Brishen Matthews, and Lance Ridgell should see time at wingback positions.
The Billies will be led on the offensive and defensive lines by Ashton Pennywell. Dexter Smith, Pete Brunson, Sam Cason, Mike Sawyer, and Cedric Leonard expect to see time on the line as well.
Caleb Bryant will lead the way at linebacker, followed by Jarron Smith, and Jay Jeffers, while Javion Mitchell, Hunter Lawson, D.J. Green, and Matthews all expect to see time in the secondary for the Billies.
