2018-2020 Classification Numbers Released

The Arkansas Activities Association released the classification numbers for the 2018-2020 cycle Tuesday evening.

As with every reclassification cycle, there are some big surprises and school names that stand out. Today we take a look at some of the notable changes in each classification.

CLASS 7A

Class 7A remains the same as expected, with Springdale, Springdale Har-Ber, Cabot, Conway, Fayetteville, Bryant, Bentonville, North Little Rock, Little Rock Central, Rogers, Ft. Smith Northside, Rogers Heritage, Ft. Smith Southside, Bentonville West, Van Buren, and Little Rock Catholic making up the list of 16.

CLASS 6A

There are a couple of notable changes with Sylvan Hills moving into the classification, and Texarkana moving out.

Class 6A will look like this in 2018: Jonesboro, West Memphis, Benton, Russellville, Lake Hamilton, El Dorado, Siloam Springs, Sylvan Hills, Marion, Sheridan, Pine Bluff, Mountain Home, Little Rock Hall, Searcy, Jacksonville, and Greenwood.

CLASS 5A

Here’s where things begin to change up a bit. Texarkana is dropping from Class 6A to Class 5A, while Huntsville is moving up from Class 4A. Additionally, Little Rock Mills will drop to Class 4A.

Class 5A looks like this: Texarkana, Parkview, Maumelle, Greene County Tech, Greenbrier, Alma, Hot Springs Lakeside, Vilonia, Beebe, Hot Springs, J.A. Fair, White Hall, Nettleton, Watson Chapel, Paragould, Magnolia, Batesville, McClellan, Wynne, Valley View, Harrison, Clarksville, Forrest City, Farmington, Hope, Camden Fairview, Morrilton, Huntsville, DeQueen, Blytheville, Little Rock Christian, Pulaski Academy.

CLASS 4A

Class 4A is where we really begin to see some movement. As previously noted, Huntsville is moving up from Class 4A to Class 5A. Booneville, Dollarway, Harrisburg, and West Fork are dropping from Class 4A to Class 3A, while Bald Knob, Green Forrest, Haskell Harmony Grove, and Rivercrest are moving up to Class 4A, while Little Rock Mills drops to Class 4A from Class 5A .

Class 4A will be made up of the following teams: Mills, Monticello, Berryville, Prairie Grove, Gravette, Pea Ridge, Brookland, Hamburg, Pocahontas, Dardanelle, Westside, Robinson, Lonoke, Malvern, Nashville, Arkadelphia, Ozark, Heber Springs, Bauxite, Mena, Southside Batesville, Crossett, Pottsville, Stuttgart, Star City, Highland, Warren, Gentry, Dover, Trumann, Waldron, Fountain Lake, Helena-West Helena, Dumas, Ashdown, Bald Knob, Gosnell, DeWitt, Elkins, Lincoln, Riverview, Rivercrest, Cave City, Green Forrest, Haskell Harmony Grove, Subiaco Academy, Shiloh Christian, and Central Arkansas Christian.

CLASS 3A

Class 3A has quite a bit of movement as well. As previously noted, Bald Knob, Green Forrest, Haskell Harmony Grove, Little Rock Mills, and Rivercrest are moving to Class 3A, while Fordyce and Yellville-Summit will drop to Class 2A. Camden Harmony Grove and Rison will move back to Class 3A, both coming from Class 2A, while Baptist Prep moves in from Class 4A.

Class 3A will be made up of the following teams: Booneville, Smackover, Clinton, Harrisburg, Lamar, Mayflower, Genoa Central, Dollarway, West Fork, Mountain View, Paris, Osceola, Newport, Manila, Fouke, McGehee, Drew Central, Perryville, Glen Rose, Bismark, Corning, Atkins, Centerpoint, Piggot, Walnut Ridge, Cedarville, Cedar Ridge, Lake Village Lakeside, Prescott, Greenland, Jessieville, Rose Bud, Hoxie, Charleston, Junction City, Marshall, Palestine-Wheatley, Rison, Mansfield, Two Rivers, Danville, Camden Harmony Grove, Barton, Melbourne, Horatio, Baptist Prep, Harding Academy, Episcopal.

CLASS 2A

Some of the most notable changes in Class 2A include Camden Harmony Grove and Rison making the jump back up to Class 3A, while Fordyce and Yellville-Summit move into the classification from Class 3A.

Class 2A is as follows: Yellville-Summit, Lee County, Lavaca, England, Salem, Parkers Chapel, East Poinsett County, Gurdon, Fordyce, Magnet Cove, Mountainburg, Quitman, Carlisle, Earle, Hackett, Hazen, Murfreesboro, Johnson County Westside, Hector, Poyen, Bigelow, McCrory, Lafayette County, Spring Hill, Cross County, Cutter Morning Star, Rector, Marked Tree, Magazine, Des Arc, Dierks, Hampton, Woodlawn, Bearden, Conway Christian, Clarendon, Mount Ida, Foreman, Decatur, Mountain Pine, Brinkley, Midland, Western Yell County, Mineral Springs, Marvell-Elaine, Augusta, Hermitage, Strong.
