University of Georgia punt returner Thomas Flowers has been named the Southeastern Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Flowers was recognized by the conference office following the Bulldogs' 14-7 win over Georgia Tech.

The redshirt sophomore from Austell, Ga., returned four punts for 79 yards, including a pivotal 33-yard return that set up the Bulldogs' game-winning score.

He also tallied a 30-yard return in the third quarter.

For the season, Flowers has returned 29 punts for 405 yards (14.0 average) and a touchdown.

Flowers previously won the award this season after returning two punts for 66 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown, in Georgia's 27-14 win over Tennessee.

Georgia returns to action on Saturday when it takes on the LSU Tigers in the SEC Championship Game at the Georgia Dome. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. EST.
