The Shootout of the South 7-on-7 Football Tournament begins Friday with 19 teams from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas coming to compete. The Shootout of the South is held in west Little Rock and is in its 8th year.

This year's field includes Allen (TX); four playoff teams from Oklahoma in Heritage Hall, Stigler, Norman, and Afton; Arkansas state champions Fayetteville (7A), El Dorado (6A), and Pulaski Academy (4A); and 11 other Arkansas schools: Bryant, Central (Little Rock), Central Arkansas Christian, Greenbrier, Harrison, Lake Hamilton, Mayflower, Nashville, Russellville, Warren, and Watson Chapel.

Each of the nineteen teams will compete in five pool play games on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Mighty Bluebird Complex at 6800 Pinnacle Valley Road in Little Rock. The last pool play games will begin at 5:25 p.m.

Pool play results will seed Saturday's tournament, which is a guaranteed-two game format, beginning at 10 a.m. The finals for the championship will be at 3:20 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to the tournament is $5 per car each day. Concessions will be available.

The Shootout of the South is sponsored by Baptist Health Orthopedic Center, Windstream Communications, Virtual Piggy, Adidas, Convacare, The Hatcher Agency, Landers Toyota, and Midwest Sports.

The top four teams will qualify for the 7on7U National Championship (www.7on7.com) being held July 20-22 in Washington, D.C. Last year's Shootout of the South Champion, Pulaski Academy, won the inaugural event last July.
