We have been following the situation regarding the Lamar football team being forced to forfeit five conference victories due to use of an ineligible player. The Warrior school district appealed to the Arkansas Activities Association earlier in the week, and had their appeal denied. they then took further action and requested the case be heard before independent counsel. The case went before court judge Gordon McCain on Thursday evening, with Judge McCain ruling that in favor of Lamar, and an injunction has been granted. Due to the judgment, The Arkansas Activities Association has suspended the Class 3A Playoffs until further notice. We received the following email from the Arkansas Activities Association late Thursday evening: Class 3A Football News: Russellville - Based on the decision of circuit court judge Gordon McCain, the Class 3A state football playoffs, which were scheduled to start on Friday, will be suspended indefinitely. The ruling took place at the Pope County Courthouse on Thursday. After making phone calls, reading and sending emails, we have received some information from an source who was inside of the courtroom. This source has allowed ArkansasVarsity.com to use the information they provided, as long as they remain anonymous. The source informed us that: 1. The Boy and His Parents moved from Russellville to the Hwy 359 area which is in Johnson County, therefore the Lamar School District. 2. The AAA says it was not a Bona Fide move, the court dis-agreed, The court also ruled that the triple AAA does not specify in the Rule Book what the definition is, But the dictionary does and it is as follows. (made, done, presented, etc., in good faith; without deception or fraud). The court ruled that because of the threats, and the problems that the kid had experienced in Russellville that the move was indeed for his safety and therefore was OK. It was BONA FIDE. 3. It is true that the Parents Still own there property in Russellville. It is a property used for the benefit of their business. 4. They go home and lay their head's on a pillow at their residence in the Lamar school district, which just happens to be their parents residence as well. 5. The court ruled that the AAA, did not allow the Lamar School District due process in allowing them to complete all of the steps of the Appeal Process. 6. It said that the AAA should not have told Atkins that they were in the Playoff's because the ruling was under Appeal when Atkins was notified. In other words, it appears as if circuit court judge Gordon McCain, who heard the case on Thursday evening, has ruled that the rules in place regarding transfer and eligibility are in question, and do not point out the true definition of a Bona Fide move. Regardless, the Class 3A playoffs are on hold until further notice. This case is going to be heard, and hopefully soon. There are many young men across the state who have earned a right to be in the playoffs, and they need to be allowed to play. We will continue to follow this situation very closely, and will keep you informed on any breaking developments. ********STORY TIMELINE******** Will Lamar Be Eligible For The Playoffs?: Click Here Arkansas Activities Association Denies Lamar Appeal: Click Here Injunction Coming In Lamar Case?
